Founding Customer Lead
At Emfas, we are building the future of AI-driven product catalog management. We aim to do this by gathering a small team of exceptional individuals who are all obsessed over building an amazing product. We are now looking for a Founding Customer Lead to play a key role in scaling this team.
We are reaching a critical inflection point for a product-led SaaS that’s scaling faster than headcount. We’re not looking for a traditional CSM, AE, or Support hire.
You'll be the first dedicated hire focused on customer onboarding, activation, and growth. This is a founding role: you'll shape how we bring customers to value, inform how we sell, and ultimately build the systems that make much of this work automatic.
What You'll Own
Onboarding new customers
Run onboarding sessions with new customers
Understand their e-commerce setup and internal processes, and map to our product
Educate customers on configuration and best practices
Identify blockers and escalate to engineering when needed
Activating existing customers on new features
Stay close to, and influence, the product roadmap and understand what's shipping
Use customer data to identify who would benefit from new features
Proactively reach out to drive adoption
Create lightweight enablement materials (short videos, guides) as needed
Supporting sales
Join sales conversations where product depth or technical context is needed
Help prospective customers understand how the product fits their setup
Inform how we position and sell based on what you learn in onboarding
Feeding insights to product
Capture patterns from customer conversations
Synthesize and share insights with the product team weekly
Flag urgent issues or opportunities as they arise
Building for scale
Identify what's manual today that should be automated or productized
Partner with engineering to build self-serve onboarding flows, in-app guidance, and automated activation
You Might Be a Fit If You
Have worked in onboarding, growth, customer success, solutions consulting, or product at a SaaS company
Are comfortable with technical products - you can understand integrations, data flows, and configurations without writing code
Think in systems - you're not just doing the work, you're figuring out how to automate it
Communicate clearly and can teach complex concepts simply
Highly structured as a person, not leaving any loose ends
Are proactive - you reach out to customers, not just respond to them
Have e-commerce experience or genuine interest in the space
Thrive in ambiguity and want to shape a function from scratch
This Role Is Not
A support role (you're not answering tickets)
A pure sales role (you're not doing outbound prospecting or carrying a quota)
A developer (you'll partner with engineering, not write code yourself)
